Project overview
The client is a European home goods wholesaler selling to interior design studios and retail chains. Their previous catalog lived in a legacy B2B portal that was slow to update and invisible to search engines. They wanted a WooCommerce storefront their sales team could manage directly, with B2B-specific flows that consumer plugins could not provide.
Client’s problem: slow catalog updates, no self-service ordering for repeat buyers, and zero organic visibility.
Project goals: a self-service B2B ordering portal with negotiated price lists, quote workflow for large orders, VAT business invoicing, and a codebase the in-house team could extend.
Our solution
- Lean custom block theme built from scratch — no page builder, no mega multipurpose theme
- Role-based B2B pricing: customer groups with negotiated price lists per account
- Quote request flow for bulk orders with PDF quote generation and follow-up status
- VAT ID validation at checkout and B2B invoice layout with reverse-charge support
- Sales rep accounts with “order on behalf of customer” capability
- Product data imported and mapped from the legacy portal (4,200 SKUs)
- SEO foundation: Product, Offer and Breadcrumb schema on every catalog page
Key deliverables
- Custom WooCommerce theme (git-tracked, documented)
- B2B pricing module with role-based price lists
- Quote request + PDF workflow
- VAT validation & reverse-charge invoicing
- 4,200 SKUs migrated with images and attributes
- Launch performance & security report
Technologies used
WordPress 6.x · WooCommerce · Custom block theme · PHP 8.3 · MariaDB · Redis object cache · CDN with full-page cache
Results & client feedback
Repeat buyers now order self-service, the sales team saves roughly a day per week on manual quotes, and organic sessions to the catalog grew steadily after the schema and content foundation went live. The store passed a full security review with no critical findings.
